TRIBUTE TO MY AMAZING BIG BROTHER-IN-LOVE
Your passing was a very bitter pill to swallow, because I didn’t see it coming, but in it all, I chose not to ask God questions.
I remembered how you would always take me along when going out with my sister during the time of your courtship. After your wedding, Daddy insisted on my going home with you every weekend to help with house chores, I saw and learnt a lot from you. You loved the Lord with all sincerity, your dedication to the work of evangelism and soul winning was superb, even when my sister was heavily pregnant, she wasn’t spared of Saturdays evangelism, witnessed the birth of Mosan church in Lagos and your dedication to growing it.
You were very generous, hospitable and appreciative of goods done to you. I remembered when my son and I visited you in Washington DC, you took good care of us, cooked all the foods we ate and took our clothes to laundry, I had thought I would cook for you but you already filled the house with cooked food for us, everywhere we went, you never forgot to introduce me as the one that helped you and your wife in your early years of marriage.
You were very prayerful, you always prayed before leaving home and immediately you returned back home, there was no joking with morning and evening family altar in your house. I remembered how you and your friend, whom you always called ‘elder’ would pray from night till day break when we were in DC with you. What of your many prayers for me and my family whenever you and my sister called?
You were a good example of Christ everywhere you were, uncompromising in the things of God, loved our parents as though were yours, no wonder you always referred to yourself as the ‘first born of the family’. You were very supportive and committed to the work of God in CGM and above all, loved my sister affectionately. You are greatly missed my biggest brother.
Sleep on the “firstborn” of the Ogukanmi’s family, a man of unwavering faith, lover of God, prayer warrior, uncompromising in the things of God, passionate about the work of evangelism and mission, generous and hospitable. I love you, but Jesus loves you the more. We shall see each other again on the resurrection morning.
