TRIBUTE TO A FAITHFUL FATHER PASTOR DR. JOHNSON OLATUYI (AMF GENERAL SECRETARY)
A tribute to a great Faithful father, Pastor, Husband, Grandfather, a mentor and our beloved General Secretary. A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man he meant to be. As I fondly called him “DADDY”, He was an icon in the word and work of God. He expected everyone he came in contact with to be strong in the word of God; he did this by holding you accountable for your actions.
If you weren’t living up to his expectations, he was sure to let you know, he was never unkind about it. He showed me that real men needed to be compassionate as well as strong. I’ll never be able to express how grateful I am for the way he related with me in the short period that we served together as AMF Executive Committee. To say that he will be greatly missed is an understatement.
Pastor Dr. Johnson Olatuyi, a faithful servant, great pastor, and a friend to pastors across the world, went home to be with the Lord on August 17 th Over the period of four years, when I was the Vice President of African Ministers Fellowship (AMF) I have been privileged to serve with him as a Respectable General Secretary, he did not let anything slip off his fingers. Every time I have been with him, I have been encouraged and challenged by his walk with the Lord, humility, and friendship. He had a tremendous influence on my life in many ways.
Pastor Dr. Johnson Olatuyi practiced what he preached, taking a stand on biblical principles. He was a true Soul winner, not only did he lead his church in faith-filled, strategic outreach, but he personally shared the gospel with people one on one. He was compassionate, a burden-bearing father. Today, not only are there hundreds of pastors across the nation that miss their dear friend, but there is a family and a church family who misses their father, grandfather, and pastor. As Acts 20:28 states, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”
May the Lord Use Pastor Dr. Johnson Olatuyi’s influence in our lives to graciously stand for truth, continue faithfully in loving, serving, preaching, and witnessing, and being a burden-bearing friend to God’s people. We hope that God will say this about us at the end of our lives here on earth, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in a few things, I will set you over many. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” (Matthew 25: 21 and 23)
